After more than half a century of serving delicious deep-dish pizza, one of Chicago’s iconic pizza establishments will sadly close. My Pi Pizza will permanently shut down its Bucktown location at the end of June.
The beloved Chicago pizza spot helped and played a significant role in popularizing deep-dish pizza nationwide. Founded in 1971 by Larry Aronson, he began perfecting his distinctive recipe in the ’50s, taking inspiration from Pizzeria Uno’s recipe and making it his own before opening the restaurant.
Say goodbye to My Pi Pizza
My Pi Pizza, which has been situated in a low-key strip mall in Bucktown since 2000, is the last of its kind. While business picked up during the COVID pandemic with takeout orders, the restaurant faced challenges when dining restrictions eased, costs rose, and it had little room for tables and chairs and dine-in service.
The restaurant will continue to ship nationwide through June 22 and make its final appearance at Steve Dolinsky’s Pizza City Fest this fall. This will be the last opportunity to enjoy a slice and reminisce about how you experienced it.
