From summer fairs to outdoor screenings, Chicago has plenty of ways to spend the summer. For Minecraft fans, one of the world’s most popular video games is now available as a real-life adventure where visitors can step inside its pixelated universe, collect resources, battle mobs, and complete a mission.
Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is officially open at EXP Rosemont, the Midwest’s largest immersive venue, located just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. The interactive experience will run through September 7, giving players the chance to take part in Minecraft’s first real-life challenge.
Inside Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue
In Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, visitors become heroes tasked with saving villagers from a zombie attack. The approximately 55-minute adventure takes guests through eight interactive rooms inspired by different biomes from the game.
Players use the Orb of Interaction, a handheld device that lets them interact with the environment, complete challenges, collect resources, and battle familiar Minecraft mobs like spiders, creepers, and skeletons.
Throughout the quest, guests can mine for gems, chop down trees, gather ingredients, and craft a potion needed to complete the mission. The final challenge requires players to use their knowledge about the game to build their way through an escape portal and rescue the villagers.
