Fast-food chain Jack in the Box is coming back to the Chicago area next year. The 24-hour burger chain announced its imminent return this week dropping news that it will be opening 8 stores across the Chicago area including a location close to Midway Airport.
The San Diego-based company first came to the area back in the 1960s and quickly became a popular fast-food franchise across Chicago before it left in the 1980s.
Along with the Midway Airport location, Jack in the Box will be coming to Tinley Park, Naperville, New Lenox, Plainfield, Carol Stream, Lake in the Hills, and Countryside in 2025, with some potentially opening in early 2026.
According to Jack in the Box CEO Darin Harris, an aggressive expansion across the country will see around 125 stores open in the Chicago area with many planned to open in the Midwest and further afield.
With 2,200 locations across 22 states, new Jack in the Box stores opened in Salt Lake City and Louisville in 2023 and more will be coming to Michigan, Montana, Wyoming, Arkansas, Georgia, and Florida as well as Mexico.
“It’s been about 40 to 50 years since our last time in Chicago,” said Harris in a press release. “This strategic expansion into Chicago allows us to not only satisfy long-standing customer demand for our brand but also to become a key member in the region’s thriving restaurant scene.”
“We’re excited to bring our unique menu where customers can order any item at any time—day or night and we’re confident Jack in the Box will quickly become a favorite local destination.”
The new locations will be open 24 hours a day offering dine-in and drive-thru according to the press release.
