The Polar Express ride, a popular holiday attraction in Chicago, has been canceled this year in light of construction at Union Station.
Organizers announced the news in a statement on the ride’s official site.
“We regret to announce that THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride will not operate in Chicago in 2024 due to extensive city street reconstruction above Union Station,” read the statement.
“We understand this event is an important experience for families and hope to return in the future.”
This isn’t the first time in recent years that the holiday train ride has been canceled. According to ABC7, the ride was also canceled in 2022 due to a staffing shortage.
For disappointed riders, there’s still a chance to enjoy the Christmas attraction at other area locations. The Polar Express ride will make a stop at the Fox River Trolley Museum in suburban Elgin on dates during November and December.
