If Father’s Day crept up on you again this year and you’ve got nothing planned, don’t despair! We’ve got your back!
With Father’s Day only a day away it may feel like you’ve got no time to plan anything but don’t worry. Here are some of our recommendations:
1. Grab To-Go Cocktails
Luckily for us, Chicago finally legalized to-go cocktails this past Wednesday! So why not head over to your dad’s favorite bar and grab a couple (or a few more) of his favorite drinks and enjoy them together? It’ll give you guys the chance to bond and reminisce over some awesome drinks! Or if you guys rather head outside now that Summer’s finally here, why not check out some of the coolest cocktail bars in town. Here are 10 of Chicago’s best cocktail bars.
2. Enjoy An Al-Fresco Meal
Now that we’re already in Phase 3 of reopening Patio dining is now an option! Take advantage of the Summer Solstice and treat your dad to a lovely al-fresco meal in one of the many streets around Chicago closing down for outdoor dining, they have some awesome places. You could also head to Recess in West Loop, which has recently opened its gigantic 14,500 square feet patio!
3. Watch The Tantalizing Stonehenge’s Summer Solstice
Speaking of the Summer Solstice, the 5,000-year-old Stonehenge will be livestreaming the Summer Solstice for the first time in history. Watching the sun rise behind the Heel Stone on the longest day of the year is a celebration that attracts thousands of people every year, so why not enjoy this oh-so-popular event with prime front-row seats right from your living room?
4. Prepare Him A Yummy Meal With Fresh Local Produce
Sometimes home-made gifts are the best kind of gifts. If you’re a fan of cooking prepare your dad a hearty, home-cooked meal. Some farmers markets are already opening around Chicago–Logan Square’s Farmers Market is opening again this Sunday, head on over and shop for some excellent local goodies. We’re sure dad will be delighted with your yummy gift!
5. Head outdoors
If you’re feeling adventurous or feel like you want to get out of the city why not head on a little trip to Starved Rock State Park or the Indiana Dunes State Park? There’s some excellent short trips you and your dad can take if you feel like getting out of Chicago, check them out here.
