Wrigley Field may have just found its newest unofficial mascot: a Canada Goose nesting among the bleachers!
The feathered friend was first spotted by fans during the Cubs Saturday, April 5 game against the San Diego Padres, with one fan posting a picture of the bird to Twitter/X.
Officials quickly blocked off the section to protect the avian creature’s home, according to People magazine. The bird was reportedly seen relaxing and watching the game from a juniper bush.
Fans have affectionately named the bird Suzuki in honor of Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki.
Cubs Senior Director of Communications Jennifer Martinez told the Associated Press that the organization is taking the necessary measures to protect the animal.
“At the Friendly Confines, we truly mean it when we say everyone’s welcome, including the goose and her nest who took up residence in the bleachers,” Martinez said in a statement to the AP.
“We’re giving her the space she needs while we’ve been working closely with a wildlife organization to manage the situation safely and responsibly, in full accordance with state law.”
