There’s a new celeb ghost kitchen in town.
The past year has seen an influx of ghost kitchens and pop-ups arrive in Chicago. The latest one to add to the mix is from none other than LA Actor Danny Trejo. The star of the movies Machete, Spy Kids, Con Air, and Desperado, opened a Mexican-American restaurant in LA back in 2016 by the name of ‘Trejo’s Tacos’ and has since expanded his culinary empire.
It’s the latest addition to the incredible variety of high-quality Mexican food available in Chicago and is now officially open in Kitchen United, a ghost kitchen in the Loop inside the former Wells Street Market food hall.
As well as traditional fillings found in the Beef Barbacoa Taco, Grilled Chicken Taco, and Chicken Tikka Taco, Trejo’s Tacos sells a range of vegetarian substitutes such as the Young Jackfruit Taco, Mushroom Asada Taco, and the Cauliflower Taco.
Claiming to be “the future of takeout and delivery and the nation’s first multi-restaurant ordering to-go experience”, Kitchen United is home to more than 10 restaurants allowing foodie fans the chance to order meals from all the different restaurants on the same bill.
An array of different vendors offer a wonderful amalgamation of diverse options including Indian cuisine from Siri Express, Thai food from Camile Thai, and plant-based burger and sausage creations from Plant B.
Found at 205 W Wacker Drive, Trejo’s Tacos is open every day from 10 am to 9 pm for pickup or delivery. The full menu can be found here.
