The 101-story tower holds the title of both the 3rd tallest tower in all of Chicago, after the Willis Tower and the Trump Tower, but more importantly, it is also the tallest tower on the planet designed by a woman.
The new addition to Chicago’s renowned skyline was designed by Jeanne Gang and her architectural firm, Studio Gang Architects, who were behind Chicago’s elegant Aqua skyscraper and the Nature Boardwalk as well as an array of impressive architectural projects across the country.
Following the trends of their other award-winning creations, St. Regis is already picking up awards and acknowledgments now being named in USA Today’s 10 best new hotels across the US.
Asking a panel of travel experts to nominate their favorite hotels that opened in the last year, USA Today compiled a list from which readers voted for their top picks to crown the winners. Chicago’s St.Regis came in at number 9 just in front of Dollywood’s HeartSong Lodge & Resort in Tennessee.
