It has been a flattering year for Chicago’s hospitality and gastronomy scene when it comes to accolades and acknowledgments. From once again being named Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Big City in the United States to local businesses picking up awards for being among the world’s best hotels, pizzerias, and burger joints, Chicago establishments were continuously recognized as being among the best in 2023.
Now, rather than looking at those trusted places that have earned their just rewards, the Michelin Guide has released its list of the Most Anticipated Restaurants for 2024 and, you guessed it, an exciting new Chicago venture is one of the first to be named.
Encompassing both tried-and-true operators expanding to new cities and chefs venturing out with second and third projects, the list picks out the most exciting restaurants from coast-to-coast that will be opening this coming year “from stunning sushi to Korean fried chicken.”
The first name on the list is an incoming project between two-time James Beard-nominated chef Evan Funke and Chicago’s Lettuce Entertain You hospitality group by the name of Tre Dita.
The Tuscan Steakhouse will soon open in the St. Regis Hotel which finally opened back in May after 4 years of construction.
Michelin Star has January down as an estimated opening date though The St. Regis and the Tre Dita websites both still read “opening winter 2024”.
“Pasta prodigy Evan Funke of Los Angeles’ acclaimed Felix and Mother Wolf Italian restaurants has teamed up with Chicago’s Lettuce Entertain You hospitality group to launch Tre Dita, a vast 8,600 square foot, bi-level Tuscan steakhouse on the second floor of The St. Regis Chicago hotel in The Loop,” writes Michelin Guide.
“Expect an open-hearth wood-fired grill and a temperature-controlled pasta lab. London-based David Collins Studio has designed a Tuscan-inspired aesthetic with columns, marble, and 40-foot windows.”
For now, a menu or further photos of inside Tre Dita have not been made available to Secret Chicago but more information shall be provided as soon as it is made available.
