So far 728 donors have given over $20K to help with Sporty’s cancer treatment.
Remember the self-walking dog we reported on a little over a week ago? We’re sorry to say that Sporty isn’t doing so well. He has been battling slow-moving lymphoma for the past year, and last week, things took a turn for the worse.
When Sporty’s owner, David Duncan brought 12-year-old Sporty into the vet for pneumonia, they discovered large cell lymphoma in his GI tract. Duncan created a GoFundMe account Oct 17 with the hope that Chicagoans might help with Sporty’s growing medical expenses. Good news! Donors raised over $20K in four days to help Chitown’s favorite golden retriever.
The GoFundMe is still up and donors are welcome to give as Sporty continues to fight cancer with chemo treatments over the next couple weeks. Duncan posted his thanks on the page for Chicagoans’ generosity and promises to donate any remaining funds to help other dogs in need.
