Have you seen the lines? They usually wrap around several buildings before noon, and you could end up waiting hours.
Instead, consider making an appointment at the DMV; it’s much easier than you think.
Here are the steps to schedule a Real ID Appointment in Illinois
Find a DMV and schedule an appointment
Visit the DMV Appointments section on the Secretary of State website and make an appointment here.
Gather the correct documents
You’ll need to provide the following:
- Proof of Identity
- Proof of Social Security Number
- Two Proofs of Residency
- Proof of Signature
Keep in mind:
- Documents must be valid.
- Only original hard copies are accepted.
- Printed electronic documents can be used (e.g., bank statements)
- All account numbers must be clearly visible
- No photocopies are allowed

Visit the Facility on your scheduled appointment

Receive Temporary Card
