While there may be a wealth of authentic Italian restaurants in Chicago, none will ever match the experience of dining just steps away from the Trevi Fountain or round the corner from the largest ancient amphitheater ever built.
Luckily for keen historians, Italian food fanatics and wine connoisseurs, or anybody in love with Europe and the magic of Italy, O’Hare is now offering direct flights to the country’s captivating capital and straight into the city often referred to as the cradle of Western civilization.
The Chicago Department of Aviation along with representatives from ITA Airways and the Consul General of Italy in Chicago recently announced the launch of a new route with ITA that will take passengers directly from O’Hare International Airport to Rome-Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino International Airport in the Italian capital.
It means that O’Hare is now serving its largest number of Italian destinations to date. It is also ITA Airways’ 7th connection to North America with flights already connecting Rome to New York, Boston, Washington, Miami, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
According to the release, with the first flight having flown from Gate M29 in Terminal 5 at 3 p.m. on April 7th, ITA Airways will now operate 6 flights from Chicago to Rome per week for the next two months and then increase to 7 flights each week from June onwards.
“We are proud to be here today and launch the new nonstop flight between Chicago and Rome,” said Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and CEO Volare. “This new destination, the seventh in North America, further enriches the intercontinental network of ITA Airways and consolidates our expansion towards the United States, which is the first international market for our Company.
