Trader Joe’s shoppers on Chicago’s Northeast Side will no longer have to travel all the way to Lincoln Park for their weekly grocery haul.
The popular organic grocery chain is opening a new location in Uptown.
Here’s everything we know so far.
Trader Joes Uptown opening soon

On Friday, March 27, the City of Chicago approved a build out permit for Trader Joe’s at the ground floor level of 804 W. Montrose Avenue, according to publicly available records.
The vacant storefront was previously occupied by the XMarket Vegan grocery store and food hall which closed in late 2024.
The news comes just weeks after Trader Joes announced plans to open an additional new location in Logan Square at the site of a long-shuttered CVS Pharmacy.

An exact timeline for the opening is unclear and construction is still pending, but Northside residents can expect the new Uptown store to open soon.
