Uptown’s XMarket food hall, billed as the largest vegan food hall in the Midwest, will close this weekend after just one year in business.
The food hall, owned by vegan e-commerce company PlantX, announced its closure in a social media post.
“Chicago, this is a tough one to share,” the post read. “We poured our hearts into creating a space for the vegan community, but the challenges have been real…for those who haven’t made it by, this is your last chance.”
XMarket opened at 804 W. Montrose Ave. in October 2023, featuring six vegan food vendors, a bodega with plant-based snacks, and a full bar. The hall hosted several popular local vegan restaurants, including Kale My Name and Kitchen 17, according to Eater.
This weekend, guests can enjoy 50% off all of XMarket’s bodega products before the food hall closes indefinitely on Sunday.
