HA new food hall is now open in Chicago. From Here On serves as an office kitchen for over 11,000 workers within the building as well as a host of customers. With 11 incredible local vendors populating the historic space, the enormous food hall is located in the lobby of the Old Post Office. The food hall is helmed by 16” On Center— the same group behind the popular Revival Food Hall and many other hip spots.
With over 18,000 square feet filled with Chicago food vendors, there’s no shortage of fantastic eats to peruse. A cocktail bar, Snorklebox, named after the street mailbox drop-offs, sits in the center of the space. Other tenants include the much-loved Familiar Bakery, Hot Chi Chicken, Flo’s Kitchen (a family run space specializing in food from Durango, Mexico), Millie’s Pancakes, Tempesta Market, a sandwich and charcuterie vendor, and more!
The Old Post Office is a historical and enormous building that spans an entire expressway. Built in 1921, at one point, it was the busiest post office in the world and sorted 19 million pieces of mail per day! After it was abandoned in 1997, the mammoth space was empty until 2016 when a company bought it and underwent an $800 million renovation to transform the historic building into office space.
From Here On is sure to be a hit especially with its 26,000-square-foot patio which will be accessible from the Riverwalk. Perfect for summertime Chi! The office space above is already home to corporate headquarters for PepsiCo, Walgreens, the Ferrara candy company and Cboe Global Markets HQ. The building also hosts private events, workout classes, and more. Now, with the new food hall set to open during the summer, it’s bound to be busier than ever.
