Grab your pup and head to Bunker this Friday, April 29! That’s right, the owner of much-beloved Heritage Bikes, Mike Salvatore, is opening a bar/restaurant– and it’s going to be great.
The new West Loop taco joint will feature a giant outdoor patio that’s perfect for summer, along with cocktails, video games, and a menu stacked with food from Antique Taco chef Rick Ortiz. With Ortiz in charge of the menu, the new space is sure to be packed to the brim and complete with plenty of fare to feast and drink from bar manager Eric Jobes. There will also be two arcade cocktail tables loaded up with hundreds of vintage games to play. It’s a Chicago local dream come true.
This isn’t Salvatore’s first venture, either. He opened Heritage Bikes and Coffee in 2012, a hybrid coffee- bike shop wife Melissa, and Larry’s an Uptown cocktail lounge in 2017, and Larry’s Diner residing right next door. Now, Bunker is set to open soon and Salvatore wants it to be his ideal neighborhood bar, where the bartender knows your name, and there are always 12 drafts on tap.
There will also be a 74-seater patio, with a dog-friendly policy! They plan to unveil a patio menu in time. From sipping froze on the patio to enjoying a burrito and Spanish-style gin and tonic using infused spirits inside, there’s no shortage of community fun to be had.
Read up on the menu here. Business hours extend from 3 PM to 10 PM on Wednesday; 2 PM to 10 PM Thursday and Sunday; and 2 PM to 11 PM on Friday and Saturday.
