The NASCAR Chicago Street Race is taking a break in 2026—but racing fans in Chicago will have another high-energy event to enjoy come next summer.
The NASCAR Cup Series is returning to the Chicagoland Speedway in suburban Joliet over July fourth weekend. 2026 will mark the first time the NASCAR series has been held at the speedway since 2019.
The race weekend schedule

The Cup Series will traverse the 1.5-mile facility on Sunday, July 5, preceded by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on July 4.
“Our fans have been asking for a race in Joliet (Illinois) for the past several years,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR executive vice president, chief venue & racing innovation officer.
“If you look at the racing product on our mile-and-a-half tracks, they’ve been some of the most competitive and compelling events that we’ve had in our season, and we’re confident that Joliet is going to deliver exactly that.”
