NASCAR is pumping the brakes on the Chicago Street Race—officials announced Friday that the popular racing event will not return in 2026.
In a statement addressed to fans, officials thanked attendees for their support over the event’s three year run from 2023 to 2025.
“Thank you for all that you have done to make the NASCAR Chicago Street Race one of the most iconic events in global sports,” reads the statement.
NASCAR 2027?

NASCAR officials added that they plan to take next year to “work collaboratively with the City of Chicago to explore a new potential date and to develop a plan that further optimizes operational efficiencies.”
According to the statement, officials are eyeing a potential 2027 return date for the street race. But ultimately, the future of NASCAR in Chicago is idling in neutral.
