The holiday travel season is just around the corner, and according to one study, Illinoisans can expect to save big on air travel this winter.
A recent survey from online lending company Net Credit found that Illinois is the 8th cheapest U.S. state for domestic flights.
The study analyzed price data from O’Hare International and Midway airports, and found that the average flight costs $358.20.
The study also found that the average flight price in Illinois dropped by $10.34 from 2024.

More flight connections at Chicago airports
As for what’s driving this drop in local flight costs, we can only speculate, but increased connectivity and flight availability could play a role.
American airlines and other flight providers have recently expanded service at Chicago’s largest airport, adding new domestic and international destinations to explore.
In fact, O’Hare was recently named the most connected U.S. airport.
Long story short, Chicagoans can expect big deals and even bigger flight options ahead of the 2025 holiday season.
