Already planning your winter escape from the Windy City? Chicagoans will be able to fly direct to the Dominican Republic this season thanks to a new direct flight path.
Arajet launching weekly flights to Punta Cana
Caribbean airline Arajet has announced the launch of its first-ever direct flights between O’Hare and Punta Cana International Airport beginning November 15, 2025.
Arajet will operate three weekly departures on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, amounting to 2,200 seats.
In recent years, Punta Cana has seen an uptick in tourism from Chicago. In 2024 the island welcomed 138,936 visitors from Illinois, a 2% increase from 2023 with nearly a quarter of that traffic coming from the Windy City.

“Chicago is a strategic market for the Dominican Republic…it represents a great opportunity to continue strengthening the relationship between both destinations, said tourism Minister David Callado in a statement.
“This new flight will allow more families to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of the Dominican Republic, while also promoting business tourism.”
In short, Caribbean-bound travelers from Chicago will have more flight options than ever before this winter. Learn more and start planning your trip here.
