Chicagoans have no shortage of options when it comes to travel, and a new ranking has solidified our city’s position as a world-class aviation hub.
O’Hare International is the most connected airport in the U.S. according to the 2025 Official Aviation Guide (OAG) Megahubs Index.
O’Hare surpassed all other U.S. airports with 214 domestic connections, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.
The travel center also claimed the number 7 spot on the OAG Top 50 Global Airport Megahubs ranking, moving up two spots from the 2024 list.
Here’s a look at the top ten list.

The recent rankings coincide with the addition of accessibility features and upgrades at O’Hare. The airport recently launched new sensory maps, instructional videos, and other resources designed for travelers with special needs.
Additionally, officials broke ground on a $1.3 billion new concourse last month in tandem with the broader O’Hare 21 terminal expansion project.

“The strength of Chicago’s aviation market isn’t just a point of pride, it’s a competitive advantage for our city and our region,” said Mayor Brandon Johnson.
“Being named the best-connected airport in the nation means Chicagoans have more choices, airlines have more opportunities, and our city continues to stand out as a premier global hub for business and tourism.”
