Honey, I Shrunk The Pop-Up in Lincoln Square will run until November.
If there’s anything that the pandemic hasn’t shrunk is Chicago’s appetite for pop-culture pop-ups that are literally popping up all over the city. The latest to beam into Chicago is The Sixth’s homage to the late 80s comedy classic, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids starring the iconic Rick Moranis.
The Sixth Bar in Lincoln Square has never shied away from whimsy. The cocktail bar known for their inventive cocktails and creative presentations thereof made a splash earlier this year when they began selling ice cubes with superimposed memes. In like manner, the bar is giving a nod to the endearingly mad scientist, Wayne Szalinksi played by Rick Moranis.
From now until November 1, you can stop into The Sixth to check out their electrifying new pop-up. Honey, I Shrunk the Pop Up is featuring a novelty cocktail list with food items to boot — all inspired by beloved children’s trilogy.
Their cocktails are grouped into three categories: stirred, shaken, and highball, oddballs, and house drips. Their pop-up cocktail menu features spin-off names such as their Honey, I Need A Drink, Shrink Ray, and Dad, Don’t Eat Me! cocktails. Drinks are priced between $9 and $15.
If your hunger is gigantic, you can eat a truck’s worth of corndogs, hot fried chicken or pork sliders, onion dip, oatmeal cream pie cookies, and/or caramelized honey nut cheerios!
To augment the experience, The Sixth has blown up their interior with iconic images and scenery from the movie for a picture-perfect photo-op. While seating is limited, the bar has added a patio to abide by COVID guidelines and regulations. Throughout the duration of the pop-up experience, The Sixth will be open seven days a week.
