If you didn’t already know, Hawksmoor, one of London’s most popular restaurants, officially launched in Chicago last summer. It has quickly become a must-visit spot for food lovers and continues to make headlines. The steakhouse has been recognized as the number 2 “Best Steak Restaurant Group in the World” by World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants.
What makes Hawksmoor stand out globally?
Hawksmoor is one of the few restaurants worldwide with a B Corp Certification. It is decorated with its rustic charm, impeccable sourcing, thoughtfully dry-aged charcoal-grilled steaks, and the world’s coldest martinis.
Unsurprisingly, they are ranked as the 2nd-best steakhouse group in the world. Hawksmoor uses all-natural, pasture-reared beef carefully sourced from family-run farms, dry-aged, and expertly grilled over small-batch charcoal from the hills of West Virginia.
In addition to their esteemed dining program, their beverage team continues to gain international recognition: Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans awarded Hawksmoor the Best International Restaurant Bar, and Hawksmoor was a semifinalist in the esteemed James Beard Foundation Awards for the Best Beverage Program 2025.
What to order from Hawksmoor
We recommend starting with two different kinds of oysters: Vietnamese oysters topped with ginger, chili, soy, sesame, and crispy shallots. Then try the bone marrow oysters, which are charcoal-roasted. The different flavor profile combinations make the pairing delicious.
Next, we recommend the potted beef and bacon, served with Yorkshire puddings and onion gravy on the side. This dish is a London staple that Hawksmoor really delivers on.
We ended our meal with the Porterhouse, which, for steak aficionados, lets you try a little of everything. Porterhouse steak is a cut of beef from the short loin, a combination of a New York strip steak and a filet mignon connected by a T-shaped bone.
Last, try the beef-dripping chips served with Hawksmoor ketchup and the Mushrooms Diane for sides. However, if you’re still not full, add the Macaroni and cheese, which is made with five cheeses and topped with herb crumbs.
