The famed Haunted Halsted Halloween Parade and Costume Contest is back this year for another spooktacular event. The Lakeview procession is known for its incredible, dedicated cosplayers ready to parade down the street.
The yearly event brings the community together for a chance to celebrate all the haunted ghouls and ghosts on the night of Halloween. You’ll find drag queens galore, families trick or treating, and probably a few adorable pets dressed up in costumes.
The parade usually features a number of spectacular group costumes and plenty of live performances, like a yearly rendition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Costume registration for the annual contest starts at 6:30 on Halsted and Belmont before the parade kicks off at 7:30, moving north and ending at Halsted and Brompton at 8 PM.
After the parade, stick around for the award show on Halstead and Roscoe where a panel of judges, including Dancing Diva: Batty Davis and NBC5 Chicago’s Matthew Rodrigues, will award over $4,000 in prizes. It’s sure to be a lively even with performances from Molly & Alex and Brady Prince, before the event wraps up around 10 PM.
