A brand new collaboration between the iconic Garett’s Popcorn and Revolution Brewing launches in stores this week. Using over 450 pounds of popcorn and 1,200 pounds of brown sugar for the 120 barrels of the 7 percent ABV, this divine invention will have some stocking up and others shaking their heads at the idea of caramel popcorn beer.
As for how this merger came about? Well, Garrett Popcorn Shops, which is known for its caramel cheddar popcorn, rents storage space from Revolution Brewing in Avondale.
Grab a glass for yourself at Revolution’s taproom and brewpub, and at bars and stores across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
It is still yet to be determined whether this will become an annual offering!
As for the brew itself, Revolution Brewing is avoiding any artificial or synthetic caramel taste that populates other caramel beers and instead, adds caramel early in the brewing process– and a bit of salt for that popcorn flare.
Chicago locals can purchase a case at their local grocery stores, while nationwide distribution is slated for October 1st. The beer will be available in stores starting this week through to November– but that doesn’t mean it’ll be readily available. The Caramel Popcorn Ale could very well fly off the shelves immediately.
Will you be trying the unique novelty flavor?
