Looking to fly direct from Chicago to Europe in 2025? Beginning this May you’ll be able to do just that!
American Airlines is rolling out the first-ever nonstop flight from Chicago to Naples, Italy.
It’s all part of the airline’s massive service expansion at O’Hare airport announced on February 20.
American Airlines previously scaled back service at the Midwestern transportation hub, offering fewer flights and reduced seat capacity in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, the airline is changing course, revealing plans to expand its footprint at O’Hare with 25% more seats and 22% more departures than in 2024.
In total, American will operate up to 480 daily flights from Chicago and add nine new destinations for travelers.
Along with its new direct service to Italy, American will also offer new service to Madrid, Honolulu, and Cape Cod.
Additionally, the airline will fly three daily flights to Heathrow Airport in London and expand its domestic service.
“O’Hare has always been a vital hub for American, connecting the Midwest to our global network and bringing travelers from across the world to Chicago for business and pleasure,” said Ben Humphrey, American’s Vice President of ORD Operations.
“Strengthening our network is a promise to our customers that we’ll continue to provide exceptional service to the places they want to go.”
