The Department of Streets and Sanitation will be putting a stop to the age-old Chicago practice this week.
Workers with the Department of Streets and Sanitation have been instructed to begin picking up those trusty parking space savers putting an end to Chicago’s wintertime ‘dibs’ tradition. While traveling along regular garbage collection routes, DSS crews will begin clearing unclaimed objects left on the street from this Friday, February 11th.
In a statement posted to the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation social media pages, it encouraged residents to “remove chairs, cones, etc., especially items they want to keep. Any unclaimed items will be picked up, with focus given to pending 311 requests.”
