Sueños Festival will feature headliners J Balvin, Ozuna, and Wisin & Yandel!
A new festival will debut in Chicago this year boasting an entirely Latin music lineup and it’s being mooted as the largest Latin music event to have ever been held in Grant Park. Set for Memorial Day weekend, the inaugural two-day ‘Sueños Music Festival’ will feature headliners J Balvin, Ozuna, and Wisin & Yandel as well as a roster of other Latin music stars such as Myke Towers, Jhay Cortez, El Alfa, and Chicago artist DJ Mariam.
“Chicago is home to one of the largest Mexican populations in the country — making events like Sueños Festival an important opportunity to highlight the culture and the cultural contributions of our Latino community as a whole,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in an announcement yesterday.
Sueños Festival will be presented by the same producers behind Lollapalooza, Baja Beach Fest, and Reventon Promotions.
“When we went looking for where we wanted to do this, Chicago was always top of the list. Grant Park is the most beautiful park in the world and there’s an audience that’s been going to Soldier Field for Latin music for decades,” said co-founder Chris Den Uijl on Monday. “There needed to be an outdoor festival like this.”
The festival will have a capacity of 35,000 with all performances taking place on a single stage though organizers hope to branch out and expand the festival’s size in the years to come building it into a large festival that celebrates all genres of Latin music. In addition to music, there will be an array of local Latin food vendors, cocktail lounges, a Ferris wheel, and art installations.
Sueños Festival will take over Grant Park on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of May. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 2 pm and can be purchased at suenosmusicfestival.com.
