A Chicago suburb is among the safest cities in the U.S. according to a new ranking from WalletHub.
The finance site has released its list of Safest Cities in America for 2025, comparing data from 180 urban areas to 41 key safety metrics.
The study took into account rates of safety risks like public health crises, natural disasters, traffic accidents, and violent crime.
Illinois’s second-largest city is America’s safest

Of the cities included in the survey, one Chicago suburb cracked the top 50 picks. Aurora, Illinois claimed the number 33 spot on the list, with an overall safety score of 64.50.
Aurora also scored a low natural disaster risk at 62, and a high community safety rating of 17. The ranking is significant as Aurora is the second-largest city in Illinois behind Chicago.
