Preservation Chicago has released its annual list of “Chicago 7 Most Endangered” buildings for 2025, exploring the history of some of our city’s most vulnerable architectural treasures.
The release of the list coincides with Chicago’s 188th birthday, highlighting the importance of preserving our city’s treasured past while looking towards its future.
A tradition since 2003, the list has previously worked to save some of Chicago’s most recognizable landmarks including the James R. Thompson Center, The Century and Consumers Buildings, and Promontory Point.
This year’s list includes 5 new and 2 repeat entries:
- The Delaware Building
- Clarence Darrow Memorial Bridge
- J.J. Walser House
- Olivet Baptist Church
- Central Manufacturing District Clock Tower
- Western Boulevard Industrial Buildings
- St. Martin’s Church
This year’s entries cover buildings across the city, from the heart of downtown to the far South Side. The structures are all either at risk of demolition or in serious need of restoration.
