If you’re a fan of Top Chef and decadent steak, you’re going to want to read on. Owners Chef Sangtae and Kate Park of HIS Hospitality created Bonyeon as a tribute to their Korean heritage. The beloved omakase spot incorporates Japanese culinary techniques to offer a unique and educational steak omakase experience. Now, just after celebrating their one-year anniversary, the team announced a series of collaboration dinners with some of Chicago’s most beloved chefs.
The series kicks off on Thursday, March 20th, with Top Chef alum Chef Kaleena Bliss, who also competed in the sixth season of Food Network’s Tournament of Champions, premiering March 2nd.
Chef Kaleena, known for her expertise in seafood will infuse Bonyeon’s beef-focused menu with coastal influences. She and Chef Sangtae share a deep appreciation for Korean ingredients and techniques, which will be reflected in the dinner.
Guests can look forward to a 12-course meal featuring dishes such as chilled crab wraps with perilla leaves and pickled Fresno peppers, grilled galbi with pineapple kimchi and pickled chayote, an oyster duet with Gochujang hot sauce and pickled Asian pear, beef carpaccio with gomtae, macadamia crumble, plum gel, and white asparagus, as well as lobster and uni tagliatelle with uni cream sauce and caviar.
