The virtual graduation event will kick off June 6!
As we mentioned in a previous article, Barack and Michelle Obama will host a Virtual Graduation Event through Youtube Originals in celebration of the graduating cast.
Joining the former president and first lady, among a cast of other artists and figures, are superstars Beyonce Knowles-Carter and Taylor Swift!
In conciliation of the Class of 2020 not being able to celebrate their academic success with a grand ceremony, the class will receive a live graduation event that’s pretty much as good as it gets — virtually speaking, that is.
As previously announced, Dear Class of 2020 will feature commencement speeches from the Obamas, BTS, and Lady Gaga. Speakers will also include:
“former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice; Secretary of Defense, Robert M. Gates; Google CEO, Sundar Pichai; and renowned activist, Malala Yousafzai — the youngest Nobel Prize laureate ever.”
Other appearances include Beyoncé, who will give an inspiring message to the graduating class, along with Bill and Melinda Gates, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift and Janelle Monáe. At the event’s “After Party” there will be musical performances from Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, Maluma, Camila Cabello, Chloe x Halle, CNCO, and Doja Cat.
Beyoncé recently partnered with Twitter head, Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall with her organization BeyGOOD, which provides basic necessities like food, water, medicines, face, masks, and personal hygiene items. Their collective also donated $6 million to local community-based organizations.
Taylor Swift recently debuted her City of Love Concert on the ABC network that features footage from her iconic performance at L’Olympia Theater in Paris. The film is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney +.
Dear Class of 2020 will stream over Youtube Originals on June 6 at 2:00 pm CT.
