Dear Class of 2020 will feature the Obamas, Beyoncé, BTS, and more.
The virtual graduation ceremony streams today at 2 pm CDT, that is set to feature a commencement address from Barack and Michelle Obama, as well as performances and appearances by Lizzo, Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, and more.
The importance of excellence in education is a momentous milestone in students’ lives that is not to be overlooked. And who knows better than former president, Barak Obama, who’s signed on to give a commencement address in honor of the graduating students.
“I’ve always loved joining commencements — the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice. Even if we can’t get together in person this year, Michelle and I are excited to celebrate the nationwide Class of 2020 and recognized this milestone with you and your loved ones,” Obama wrote on his Instagram.
That’s right: the graduating students will also be treated to a commencement address by lawyer, author, film producer, current documentary subject, and Former First Lady, Michelle Obama.
But even that’s not all. The graduating class of 2020 will also receive commencement addresses from: former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice; Secretary of Defense, Robert M. Gates; Google CEO, Sundar Pichai; and renowned activist, Malala Yousafzai — the youngest Nobel Prize laureate ever.
What is a graduation ceremony without an after party? The momentous occasion will be topped off with virtual performances by Lady Gaga, K-Pop superstars, BTS, and more.
It should be noted that the ceremony was pre-recorded before the protests of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.
The ceremony will begin broadcasting on Facebook Watch at 2pm CDT on June 7.
