Anyone fancy a game of Pong?
Atari, the iconic video game makers behind ’80s classics, announced it will be opening the US’ first video game-themed hotel later this year. Atari Hotels will be a one-of-a-kind lodging and gaming experience that will open first in Phoenix, AZ followed by several other cities including Chicago!
The new hotel is a unique lodging concept and video game-themed destination. Guests will be able to enjoy fully immersive experiences for all ages, including the latest in Augmented and Virtual Reality technology. If you’re a massive gamer or looking for an out-of-this-world vacation spot for your kids, Atari Hotels might just be the perfect spot. Select hotels will even have venues for Esports like League of Legends, Starcraft, and Overwatch.

“Atari is an iconic global brand that resonates with people of all ages, countries, cultures and ethnic backgrounds and we cannot wait for our fans and their families to enjoy this new hotel concept,” says Atari CEO Fred Chesnais. Atari hopes its new hotels will be the ultimate retro experience that allows guests to stay inside of their favorite ’80s gaming system.
It’s no surprise Chicago is one of Atari Hotels’ destinations. The city is also home to NetherRealm Studios (AKA Midway Games), the studio behind Mortal Kombat; the company behind Pac-Man operates a barcade and restaurant in Shaumburg; and Chicago has a number of other barcades and video game pop-ups are scattered throughout Cook county.
While the exact details of when and where the hotel will break ground are not known yet, Atari Hotels is bound to be an exciting addition to Chicago’s video game community. Watch here for details as they become available.
