The groundhog saw its shadow on Sunday, signaling six more weeks of winter in Chicago—and this week’s forecast proves it!
Chicago started the workweek with unseasonably warm weather, reaching a high of 49 degrees on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
The warmth was short lived, as temperatures plunged below freezing overnight.
On Tuesday, the National Weather service issued a Winter Weather Advisory ahead of a storm system predicted to move through Wednesday.

Wednesday is when things really take a turn for the worst. The NWS predicts intermittent snowfall in the morning, intensifying in the afternoon with the potential for freezing rain and sleet.
The wintry mix will continue into the evening, with additional snow and rain expected—and even the possibility of thunder.
And the snow doesn’t stop there. More flakes could fall on Saturday as temperatures hover around the freezing mark.
Don’t let the fluctuating temperatures fool you—there’s more winter on the way in Chicago!
