Have you ever wanted to step back in time? Imagine being surrounded by performers on stilts, musicians playing the hurdy-gurdy, and actors dressed in full medieval costumes. If this sounds fun to you, you’re in luck! The Bristol Renaissance Faire is only an hour away from Chicago.
Running from July through September, this faire takes guests back to the medieval era. You can stroll along dirt paths lined with Tudor-style facades, miniature thatched-roof houses, and artisan shops like The Royal Garland Shop, all while the staff is dressed in elaborate corsets, heavy armor, and colorful fairy wings.
A massive medieval faire opens for the summer next month
There are numerous activities to enjoy, including testing your aim at the archery range, viewing art installations like a massive string web strung between trees, or taking a ride on the swinging wooden pirate ships.
Throughout the day, various stages host live performances, where crowds gather to enjoy comedic acts, traditional musicians playing bagpipes and drums, and elaborate processions moving through the streets.
The festival is located at 12550 120th Ave in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and is open to visitors of all ages through September.
