After 4 Years, Uniqlo is Finally Bringing a Flagship Store Back to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile—And a New Store is Coming to This Famous Suburban Mall
After years of closed shops and empty storefronts, it seems like the Magnificent Mile is getting a much-needed makeover. With the opening of the Aritiza Flagship store, the Harry Potter Store, and a Hello Kitty Cafe coming later next year, the revitalization of Chicago’s famous shopping district hasn’t gone unnoticed. Now, we’re also looking forward to another shop opening very soon.
Uniqlo is making its return to Chicago
Popular Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo is set to open a flagship store on the Magnificent Mile. Uniqlo was founded in 1984 in Hiroshima, Japan, where it began as “Unique Clothing Warehouse,” selling unisex casualwear.
According to NBC Chicago, this opening is part of an 11-store expansion from Uniqlo, with new stores scheduled to open next spring and summer in San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

The new Chicago location on the Mag Mile comes four years after the brand’s previous store at 830 N. Michigan Ave. closed.
The Chicago store will include self-checkout stations, alteration services, and RE.UNIQLO donation bins. Some of the new Uniqlo locations will also offer customizable T-shirts and tote-bag services, as well as embroidery options.
Where will Uniqlo be located?
The downtown Chicago store, referred to as a “flagship location,” will be situated at 600 N. Michigan Avenue.
In addition to the downtown store, Uniqlo will also have a suburban location inside Oakbrook Mall. These new stores mark the third and fourth locations for Uniqlo in Illinois, joining existing stores downtown on State Street and in Schaumburg at Woodfield Mall.
When are the Uniqlo stores scheduled to open?
Both stores are scheduled to open in 2026.
