Three Chicago bars are among the best in North America according to a new ranking!
World’s 50 Best has released its 2026 extended roundup of North America’s Best Bars and several local spots made the cut.
Here’s a look at each local entry.
Queen Mary

First on the list at number 80 is Queen Mary Tavern in Wicker Park (2125 W Division St.)
The low-lit Division street bar has been a favorite local hang since 2015, for its British maritime theme and classic drinks.
Stop by for what 50 Best calls a “remarkable” martini or a traditional sailor-specialty known as “daily grog” made from rum, water, and citrus juice.
Nine Bar

Tucked away behind the inconspicuous Moon Palace Express restaurant at 216 W Cermak Rd. lies one of Chinatown’s best kept secrets.
Nine Bar boasts a clubby vibe with neon lighting that evokes the aesthetics of “Blade Runner” as noted by 50 Best.
The chic bar offers creative cocktails with Asian-inspired flavors like Japanese whiskey, lychee, and passion fruit.
50 Best recommends the “addictive” MSG Martini, with fino sherry and pickled daikon. The bar also offers a delicious selection of Asian-fusion bites.
The speakeasy also regularly hosts pop-ups, happy hours, and other events.
Meadowlark

And last but certainly not least, coming in at number 65 is Meadowlark (2812 W Palmer St.)
The Logan Square cocktail lounge is no stranger to praise. Meadowlark frequently graces best bar rankings for its creative takes on drinks from Limoncello to the time-honored Manhattan.
And when it comes to ambiance, Meadowlark has it in spades. 50 Best likens the bar to a “secret library for serious drinkers.”
Due to its popularity, a spot at the bar can be hard to come by, so be sure to reserve a spot ahead of time!
