If you’ve visited The Bagel Restaurant in Lakeview, you’re familiar with the fact that it feels like home away from home.
The deli is carefully wrapped in the aromas of fresh matzahball soup and warm noodle pudding—people can be found waiting in line for takeout or snuggled in a booth at any time of day.
That’s why it was extremely surprising when its longtime location at Westfield Old Orchard Mall closed nearly a decade ago, leaving only the Chicago location standing.
However, we’re happy to report the iconic deli is planning to return to the north suburbs.
The Bagel confirms its return to the North Shore with a new restaurant
As first reported by The Record North Shore, the popular eatery plans to open a new restaurant in Glenview. According to NBC Chicago, the owner and manager of The Bagel confirmed it was on track to open the new location by late fall or early winter.
The Bagel Restaurant was started by two Holocaust survivors, originally opening in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood in 1950, and known for its homemade soups, salads, fish platters, deli sandwiches, blintzes, catering, and more.
