Our local cocktail scene is about to gain an exciting new addition, in the form of a vintage-Chicago-inspired bar.
The Alley Cat, the brainchild of the trio behind popular pizza joint Paulie Gee’s, is slated to open this month in Wicker Park.
Here’s all the details.
Introducing The Alley Cat

The Alley Cat comes from the newly-formed Tung & Cheek hospitality group, a partnership between Paulie Gee’s owners Derrick Tung, William Ravert, and Tony Dezutter.
Guests can expect a cocktail list featuring half classic drinks and half “riffs on classics,” including eight batch drinks available on tap.
All 10 cocktails on the Alley Cat’s opening menu will be $12.

Additionally, bar-goers will enjoy a 16-bottle curated wine list, craft beer bottles and cans, as well as spirit-free and THC/CBD drinks.
The Alley Cat will also offer a list of tasty bar snacks and small plates. Food menu highlights include the following:

- Crispy Taters – fried potato wedges with green curry aioli and chives
- Pork Skewers – soy-garlic glazed pork skewers with dukkah, cilantro, and fresno hot sauce
- Fish Sticks – gluten-free smoked whitefish fish sticks – think a potato croquette and a brandade merging together in fish stick form. Served with an herby remoulade sauce punched up with tarragon, chives, and dill.
- Bread & Butter – bread served with a Tomato compound butter and also an Italian Beef & Giardiniera compound butter.
- Girl Dinner – house-pickled veggies, cheese, bread and the savory Girl Dinner Gibson cocktail.

The bar’s interior will call back to vintage early 20th century Chicago. Think ornate light fixtures, green upholstery booths, and rich mahogany furnishings.
The Alley cat will have 23 bar seats and capacity for up to 121 people.
The Alley Cat will open to the public on Monday, May 11, at 2013 W Division St.
