With a bevy of hot brunch spots, endless hotdog stands, James Beard Award nominees, and incredible new restaurants coming to Chicago, it’s no wonder we’re known as a top foodie destination!
Make sure you can add Taylor Tacos to the list! The longstanding brand has been operating across Chicago since 2016 with various popups over the years. Now, after all the iterations, they’ve opened a permanent location in Little Italy!
It’s named after owners Taylor and Maya Mason, but it just so happens to also be located on Taylor Street.
Serving up an intoxicating blend of soul-fusion tacos, Taylor’s Tacos brings a soul flair to the beloved food staple with four signature tacos ranging from savory steak, sweet poppin’ potatoes, extra-juicy chicken, and sexy crispy shrimp, the rotating menu often keeps its base the same but features new iterations every week!
For example, the Obama (seen above) includes chicken, sweet potato, and a blend of vibrant toppings like pickled red cabbage! Order the guac and chips, the eloTAY corn, and a beef ‘panada along with the signature tacos for the full experience!
The new space is teaming with authenticity. Nestled amongst a popular street (AKA one of the most historic neighborhoods in Chicago), Taylor’s Tacos stands out from the crowd with generous, delicious soul fusion-inspired eats.
The brick-and-mortar store came to be thanks to community support, along with guidance fromFeed the Soul Foundation, a nonprofit providing economic support to culinary owners from marginalized communities, and Grubhub’s Community Fund.
They’re still doing catering gigs (which they’ve been doing since 2016) along with running their nonprofit, Tacos Create Community, which organizes community events like neighborhood cleanups, as well as catering options bringing soul-inspired taco bars to any event.
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm, with a tagline like ‘Street tacos for the soul,’ it’s no wonder Taylor’s Tacos has been steadily gaining popularity!
