After it was sold to developers for $15 million in 2017, the old Morton Salt Factory that was known for its enormous “Umbrella Girl” sign was redeveloped for nonindustrial use and turned into an exciting new riverfront music venue “with the goal of being an epicenter of arts and culture.”
Before it finally opened its new concert hall in February 2023, it first premiered a series of outdoor concerts and a lively outdoor market last summer to herald in a new era at the Chicago landmark.
Now the market dubbed “SummerSalt Market” is returning bigger and better for a special Memorial Day Weekend edition.
Returning to the Fairgrounds outside the Shed on May 27 and May 28, the market will once again offer an eclectic array of goods in addition to snacks, drinks, and entertainment for an exciting weekend to welcome in the transition into summer.
“We’re back and better (and bigger!) than ever with vendors bringing us vintage, vinyl, furniture, and more, plus some of the best food & drinks Chicago offers” reads the Salt Shed’s release.
Tickets to the market are free but must be reserved through Eventbrite here.
The SummerSalt Market will be open from 12 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26.
