Fall in Chicago might technically be here, but mother nature hasn’t received the memo. The Windy City is poised for a round of summer-like storms this week, following Monday’s autumn equinox.
Weekly weather outlook

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms Monday night, with rainy conditions to continue throughout the day Tuesday.
Wednesday’s forecast shows a 50% chance of precipitation and winds up to 15 miles per hour, with similar conditions expected Thursday.
Come the weekend, skies will finally clear but summery temperatures will stick around. Daily highs will hover in the mid to low 70s Friday through Sunday, with plenty of sunshine in store.
When will fall temperatures return

Thinking back to the beginning of September, Chicagoans might recall we received a week of low humidity and crisp air, only for the ideal weather to quickly subside.
So just when can we expect fall temperatures to make a comeback? Likely not for a couple of weeks.
Based on data from the NWS, average daily highs should dip into the low sixties by the tail end of September.
Highs throughout the month of October typically remain in the upper to mid sixties, gradually decreasing over the course of the month.
The average humidity in Chicago usually drops come October as well, reaching 69% on average and 53% at the lowest point of the day.
Long story short, if you’re anxious for bonfire weather to return, you won’t have to wait much longer. Until then, enjoy the warm weather while it lasts!
