The annual Silver Room Sound System Block Party is returning after a 3-year hiatus, bringing live music, performances, and plenty of fun to Oakwood Beach from July 29th to the 30th.
The yearly event is back and better than ever, bringing the same ‘Southside summer energy’ with some major upgrades, according to the official site, going from noon to 10 p.m.
One big change: the festival has been extended to a 2-day affair and has moved from the longstanding Hyde Park location to the roomier and sandier Oakwood Beach, making room to accommodate festival goers.
While the particulars of the festival lineup have yet to be announced, festival attendees can expect the usual ‘dope musical lineup’ across multiple stages, with the addition of local food vendors, a health and wellness sector, a design pavilion, and a new volleyball area.
The Silver Room Sound System Block Party has been a summer tradition in Chicago since its start in 2002 with roots in the ‘historic sound system block parties in the Bronx that connected communities through music.’
The musical event also highlights Chicago music, businesses, art vendors, restaurants, and more, creating a fun atmosphere for all ages. Check out the official event website here .
