Now, two of the endangered baby seadragons are making their public debut at the aquarium.

All about the Shedd’s living dragons
The Shedd Aquarium successfully cultivated more than a dozen baby weedy seadragons in June of 2025, signaling a milestone for the endangered species.
Weedy seadragons are a close relative of seahorses, native to the kelp forests and seaweed beds of coastal southern and western Australia.
The majestic sea dwellers are known for their impressive camouflage abilities, which allow them to blend in with the aquatic plant life in their native habitat.
Weedy seadragons navigate their environment with microscopic fins on their tail and neck.
Where and when you can visit
Guests can visit the weedy seadragons at Shedd Aquarium’s Oceans Gallery during standard museum hours, with a general admission ticket.
