Shedd Aquarium guests will have an all-new, futuristic way to experience the wonder of nature upon their next visit!
Chicago’s largest aquarium has unveiled its newly reimagined 4D theatre, welcoming guests into a multi-sensory exploration of aquatic life.
The 4D Shedd experience
Located in the Shedd’s Phelps auditorium, the 4D experiences will feature short films exploring the lives of penguins, octopuses, and sharks.
The refurbished theatre contains an extended screen, surrounding guests in ocean visuals and life-like arctic landscapes.
Each film will also include sensory elements like wind, mist, scents, and other special features.
Additionally, the 4D experience includes pre-show augmented reality features and underwater photo ops.
Guests can choose from three different shows:
- Penguins 4D – “Waddle along with emperor and rockhopper penguins as they overcome daunting obstacles on both land and sea. With “spy cams” disguised as part of the huddle, groundbreaking technology brings viewers closer to these birds than ever before.”
- BBC Earth’s Shark – “Come face to face with some of the world’s most strange and mysterious shark species. These extraordinarily intelligent underwater giants each exhibit unique behaviors to navigate their ever-changing environment.”
- Octopus – “Dive beneath the surface to explore our planet’s oceans and one of the most captivating creatures that dwells there: the octopus. Discover how this eight-tentacled wonder masters physical and mental strengths to outwit and escape predators.”
