You won’t want to glaze past this sweet spot!
Alas, donut lovers have found their new secret hideaway at Beacon Doughnut’s new walkup window. The window, tucked in a tropical nook through an alley off Armitage, is the portal of endless decadent bites!
Since the beginning of the pandemic many restaurants, bakeries, bars, and cafes have had to pivot, or otherwise think of creative ways to bring their businesses to customers. See Goose Island’s dispatch of blacked-out ice cream vans delivering beer across Chicago. Or, more subtly, Bite Café’s back alley pizza parlor in Ukrainian Village, Pizza Friendly Pizza.
Similarily, Beacon Doughnuts, a delightful small-batch bakery abundant with “vegan options galore” has gone from their popular stints at the Wicker Park Farmer’s Market to opening a hidden walk-up window in order to help serve their customers safely. To find their tropical donut haven, determined customers must first have to slip through the alley off of Armitage, where only then will they discover Beacon’s floral doughnut cove.
Open only for a small window of time throughout the week — Thursday through Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm — Beacon serves up decadent artisanal doughnuts that are as tasty as they are gorgeous. While their menu changes day-to-day, their previous offerings include: bday cake, Boston cream, blueberry pancake, campfire s’more, orange pistachio, cookies n cream donuts and more!
If the idea of Beacon selling out of your favorite donuts gives you major anxiety — we’re with you — you can make a pre-order up to 5 dozen beginning at 7:15 am through 2 pm each day that they are open. For orders over 5 dozen, you must email them 24 hours in advance.
