Having opened a huge 25,000-square-foot mini-golf concept bar in Oak Brook towards the end of 2021, the UK-based Puttshack this week announced its continued expansion with a second location in the Chicago area.
Dubbed “the world’s first and only upscale tech-infused mini golf experience”, Puttshack dropped the news that it had signed a new lease at the upscale shopping and entertainment destination Westfield Old Orchard in Skokie.
The new Puttshack outpost will be larger than the Oak Brook location and is expected to bring its signature fusion of globally inspired food, hand-crafted cocktails, and exhilarating high-tech golf courses to the Chicago suburb in 2024.
According to the release, the news space will feature two full-service bars and a private event space with a 120-person capacity in addition to “four highly competitive, tech-driven nine-hole mini golf courses powered by the brand’s leading patented Trackaball™ technology.”
The Skokie outpost will likely include popular obstacles seen at other locations such as life-size beer pong, basketball hoops, air hockey, roulette, trivial pursuit, truth or dare and connect four.
Taking over the former Lord & Taylor space, the second Chicago location comes as part of Westfield Old Orchard’s multi-phase development plan that began in late 2022.
Joining a wide variety of retailers at the center, the 30,000-square-foot Puttshack will serve as the entertainment anchor in a center that is home to more than 150 stores.
“We are so pleased that Puttshack is joining Old Orchard to further solidify our standing as the premier shopping, dining, and entertainment destination for Chicago and the surrounding area,” said Serge Khalimsky, senior general manager, Westfield Old Orchard.
“As we continue to enhance our offering, adding Puttshack was a no-brainer, and we are happy to have this exciting experience join our collection of top fashion brands and dining concepts.”
The same year Puttshack opened its first Chicago location, it stated that it would be one of many new locations to come stateside. Nine locations have since opened across the country including outposts in Atlanta, Houston, Miami and Boston. At least 13 new locations are expected to open in the coming months.
“Puttshack’s rapid growth and expansion of our one-of-a-kind mini-golf concept has been exciting to see, and we are thrilled to continue and take this next step toward opening in Skokie,” said Dave Diamond, President of Puttshack.
“Having lived in Evanston for 15 years, I frequently visited Old Orchard with my family and we are confident the Skokie outpost will serve as the ideal destination for Chicagoland’s residents and visitors to gather for family outings, date nights, and evenings out with friends and colleagues.”
