Perhaps the answer to the White Sox’s poor record lies in a friendly little penguin named Pepe.
Before Sunday’s game against the Royals, Brookfield Zoo‘s Pepe the Penguin trotted out to accompany Dr. Mike Adkesson, president and CEO of the zoo, for the ceremonial first pitch at Rate Field.

The event was held in honor of World Ocean Day, which highlighted the importance of ocean health and climate action. Pepe was there to serve as an ambassador for penguins, bringing attention to wildlife conservation efforts from Chicago to Peru.
