The total amount will be revealed in this week’s upcoming episode.
Nikki Glaser announced on ABC’s series reboot of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, that she would be donating all of her winnings to a parrot rescue center in Northbrook. Last week, ABC broadcasted the return of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”, featuring comedians, Will Forte and Nikki Glaser, in its pilot.
When prompted by Kimmel, Glaser said that she would be donating her winnings to Rescue the Bird aka A Refuge for Saving the Wildlife — a parrot rescue facility in Northbrook.
“I’m obsessed with animals,” Glaser said. “I think birds don’t get good enough representation out there…we need to rescue them, too… the thing about parrots is people get them and they don’t realize that these birds live like 70 years, some of them. And so there are a lot of abandoned birds because their owners got them, and then they die, so there’s lots of misplaced birds.”
“I Googled ‘parrot rescue,’ and it was the only website that looked like it was reputable,” Glaser told Kimmel.
Upon finding out, Richard Weiner (the owner of the parrot rescue facility) told the Chicago Tribune:
“I was ecstatic. I couldn’t believe that we were picked. They really didn’t tell me anything about why we were picked.”
The episode concluded somewhat controversially, with Glaser achieving the $32,000 milestone after an answer reversal on her previous question, in which the 35-year-old suffered a bit of a mental gaffe.
The series, pre-recorded in early March, will air her final winnings when they broadcast the follow-up episode at 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
